Recap on Summer Reading
You may remember the summer reading list I posted a few months ago. Towards the end of the school year, I compiled a list of over 40 books and academic essays that I was planning to read over the summer. Three months later, school has begun again, and I came nowhere close to reading the entire list. Not that I planned on though. Believe it or not, over the last three months, I’ve read more books than I did in the twelve months prior. Over the summer I was able to read all or part of 13 different books, upwards of 2000 pages. Some Orson Scott Card, a bit of Sartre and Aristotle, George Orwell, and Jack Keroauc. Some books I was reading for the second or third time. Some I had never heard off before compiling the list.
I literally felt like a little kid. How many of us still read (short of school assignments) on a regular basis? Either we can’t ever find the time to, or we never enjoyed it in the first place. I re-discovered the power of words this summer. Perhaps I’ll be able to get a few more books under my belt before summer rolls around again.
You should too.
