The Lovely Birthday Girl: Stephanie Kao
Classic style. If there was a encyclopedia composed of phrases that have been beaten to death throughout the internet blogospehere, “classic style” would be prominently featured. Nevertheless, there are some individuals deserving of that description. Perhaps no one I know fits the bill better than Stephanie, an import from Los Angeles who possesses more fashion smarts than anyone else I know. Really, it’s a bit unreal how knowledgeable she is on the industry of fashunz and such. She sort of reminds me of Gaws, but prettier.
Anyway, I caught up with her not too long ago. And as often happens whenever I run into a friend wearing fresh jawnz and I happen to have a camera on me, pictures were taken.

Part of the important thing about classic style is simplicity. This outfit evokes that. Complementary tones and repeating colors/aesthetic schemes ties the entire ensemble together in a very nice way.

One of my favorite things about this look is how the belt rings work as a perfect bridge between the trench coat and the shirt. The gold color of the rings perfectly complements the brown of the coat, yet the circular shapes go very well with the black polka dots. It’s simple, yet effective, tricks like this that really makes a look memorable.

Stephanie is a recent import to the magical universe that is Tumblr (I converted her). You can find her page here. You should follow her. There’s no reason you wouldn’t want the visual inspirations of a lady this tasteful on your dashboard. She’s still getting acquainted, but her posts are already making her one of my favorite Tumblrs.
*By the way, did I mention that today is Stephanie’s birthday? Happy birthday Stephanie Kao. Make sure to leave a nice and heartfelt message in her inbox right after you follow her.

Q: Describe your personal style?
I like bright things. And things that don’t match or normal people wouldn’t necessarily enjoy.

Film Stills (from what will hopefully turn out to be a new short film)
Perhaps you’ve noticed that it’s been some time since I’ve done a spread detailing photos from a photo-shoot on this here blog. It’s a shame. I’ve noticed it too. And while school is doing its best to ensure that this grim fact forever remains a reality, I’m doing my best to correct the situation. I currently have a few projects and such that I’m working on at the moment, this being one of them.
These are stills from some shooting I’ve done recently. Stills that give a glimpse into what will hopefully be my next short film. If the piece materializes into something worthwhile, it will (in time) manage to find itself on TheCreativeRoutine. If it doesn’t, you may never hear of it again.
Here’s to hoping it does.
Imani - Scene&Heard Promo Shoot (Archives)
Just when I thought I was done posting Scene&Heard photos…quite honestly, they seem to be coming out the woodwork at this point. But I’d be amiss if I failed to highlight Imani, the visionary and creative force behind the entire Scene&Heard fashion show.
The Scene of the Crime
The locale where all the fun went down.
Brett + Carter - Scene&Heard Promo Shoot (Part 2)
I hope everyone’s enjoyed the promo shoot visuals I’ve posted over the last few days. If you’re in the Nashville area this Sunday evening, it’d be a wise move to attend the Scene&Heard fashion show.

Brett + Carter - Scene&Heard Promo Shoot
Both great models to work with. By the end of the day, Carter had perfected the open-mouth blank stare. And Brett’s eccentric hair made for some interesting visuals.
Jekka - Scene&Heard Promo Shoot
A personality as lively as the killer wedges she was wearing. Jekka was an interesting model, able to transform her facial expression from a solemn look to a radiant smile…at the drop of a dime. Definitely one of my more memorable shoots.
Ashley + Brooke - Scene&Heard Promo Shoot
It’s always interesting to see how subjects play off each other when both are behind the camera at the same time. Ashley and Brooke did a brilliant job and had great on-camera chemistry. The fiery redhead and the blond bombshell.
